Hi all.

Having some issues with a switch short error on my Tee'd Off. On start up, I am getting switch short errors on return 2 and return 5. The return 2 short is intermittent so I will deal with that later. However the short on return 5 is consistent so I want to fix that first. I narrowed this issue down the the tournament switch on the game controls board. With the board unplugged, the return 5 short goes away. When plugged in, the error returns.

I tested the switch with my DMM and it is working just fine. Where should I go from here? What else could potentially be affecting this switch? The only other switches on this return are the R switches in the gopher wheel. However the issue persists with the gopher wheel connected or disconnected. I have also looked at the lamps on return 5. No lamp sockets shorting on anything in the cabinet.

The game boots up properly with switch and lamp strobes and returns disconnected so the issue is not on the board, either.

Did some more troubleshooting today.

I booted up the machine and saw a short error on return 6 for the first time. Grr.

I unplugged A1P5 and took some voltage readings. I am getting <0.1v on pins 2,4,5,9,10,11. Game boots with no errors when the returns are unplugged like this. Once back in the returns... return.

Whoops! I didn't plug A3P7 in properly - the ground connector. Plugged in and working fine now. Sometimes it really just is the simple stuff.
