I just stumbled upon this thread. I am in the process of restoring a GTB Spider-Man as well (I purchased it as a rough non-working project from a trailer park in San Leandro - guy told me it used to be routed at a country club in Castro Valley). When I opened the machine up at home, I found out that Steve Charland serviced the machine and updated all the necessary items (grounds, capacitor replacement, etc.) since he left little white hanging notes on each of the things that were updated - pretty cool.
I cut and routed a new bottom and front panel for the machine since it had some water damage and rotted away.
Sanded, bondo'd the entire cabinet, primed with Kilz2, sprayed with Valspar signature paint in "Metropolis" grey.
Misted a bit of metallic paint around the cabinet, sprayed the "webbing" with Montana Marble effect. Used Banner red and Satin Ink for the blue.
Stencils were made using my Silhouette Cameo 3 (cut in sections since machine is unable to cut wide material). If you notice, the letters on the cabinet match the amazing spider-man on the backglass instead of using the existing font. Also, I used the spidey head from the backbox - in my opinion looks better than what was on the cabinet.
Let me know if you need anything.
