...it sounds like 'plonk', or like it's underwater. Seems to function properly otherwise. Does the rod that strikes the chime need to be replaced, or is it something else? The chime itself is fixed in place, and adjusting the distance travel didn't work. If I manually strike the chime with that rod, I get a true chime sound. Just wanted a second opinion before I go and order a whole new solenoid.

    Hi DF
I was adjusting the solenoid position for more/less travel.
I will try swapping plungers. It seems to strike the chime normally, except for the sound. I'll check the foam issue when I get back home. It just popped up, and sounded fine previously. No moving of machine in-between.
    Thanks
    Dave

Just the one, and it worked one day, 'plonked' the next. No beer spilled back there that I remember.

Oh, and can the foam just be removed, or should something else be used underneath?

    Quoted from nick-the-greek:

There's a switch on each score relay that fires the apprropriate chime coil. Worth checking they're clean & gapped.

    Will check that also, thanks.

Right, the bracket allows for a little travel. Didn't know if hitting the chime at the 'end of stroke' or earlier, would make a difference or not. Not much to it, I know.

Thanks all, I will look at tonight and report back. I appreciate it.

    Fixed!

By simply loosening the screws on the bracket that attaches to the back box...it changed the tone of the chime. It could have been a humidity change thing possibly? Anyway, all fixed, and thanks for the chime education!

    Hello

I've recently learned that I call bells 'chimes'. My apologies, I had been referring to a 100k bell in a '59 Gtb. Sorry for any confusion!
