Info Please
Got mine last night. That thing is the bomb. Should have bought one 10 years ago. The parts literally fall off the board in seconds.
I am just going to take boards apart and put them back together just for fun now....
Interested too,
Is this "just" for de-soldering or can you make a quick repair with it too? Or does that require the use of a regular soldering iron?

It just does desoldering. you can pick up a good soldering station for under $50 and I have $15 25 watt Weller for doing work in the cabinet. You don't want to try to drag around a soldering station unless you are working on boards.
It has a tip with a small hole in the end that literally sucks the solder off of the area you are working on.

And if you have ever tried to replace a row of header pins without one of these you know how almost impossible it is without cutting it apart and removing it pin by pin.
I removed a row of 10 header pins in one piece in about 60 seconds.
Just got mine today at a great price and fast shipping. Thanks! Will the tip included do most repairs or do I need another? I've read I should get the 1.6 tip but was hoping the one included could do it all. I have a lot if work to do replacing header pins and some capacitors.
Mine works great even on the big caps and on the big bridge rectifiers so you are probably ok. I think you need the larger one if you are trying to work on bigger parts. For board work, there really aren't anything bigger than the stock tip on normal pinball boards. That's really what you are trying to do, put the leg (of the part) into the tip on the backside of the board.

I've been getting over gal bladder surgery as of late, but I finally felt well enough to try it out yesterday and this thing is glorious. I completely removed a chip from a board (in my case a broken NES mainboard) with this thing. Took the solder off clean and I just had to do a tiny bit of prying to unseat it - almost no more than if the chip was socketed.
I was quite impressed! I don't have a pin to work on yet but I am planning on using this when I give my WG6100 vector monitor a well needed capkit.
Quoted from Troutfarm:I am interested. Is this still available? price? thanks!

I got mine last week. I have thought about buying one of these for a long time, and I am glad I finally got it. This is now one of my favorite tools. Fast shipping too.
Quoted from The-koontz:I also would like details if still available. Thank you
