Been struggling to find the best way to light my work area when repairing pins. My room is pretty tight and I really did not want to chase cords around if I did not have to. The room is bright when all lights are on but not quite prite enough for "close work". So I went on the hunt for a battery operated lighting system.
I tried an Energizer "panel" light - not really that useful unless on a table - maybe best for camping light but not the best for PB work. It constantly slid around on the PF and the light was more in my eyes than on my work, so …
Next and finally, I tried the Capri Tools 40464 60-LED SMD Cordless Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Work Light from Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AYNQQNS
Works like a charm and see the attached images for how. The magnetic mount is the most useful:
Mount on low part of backbox using magnet to catch the edge of the metal surround
Mount on the apron when the glass is off (mount on the LD bar when glass is on)
Mount on the vertical side of either side of the side rail
Mount on the thin top edge of the side rail
After mounting, you can rotate the light to face your work and get it out of your eyes
I just used it for about an hour changing out some rubbers on TOM and adding a molex connector in the trunk - sure was nice being able to see!
Bonus is that I've stored it in my work closet (has no electric light) and I can now see in there too.
