The 1,000 chime works fine, but when scoring 5,000 points it seems sluggish--too slow to count along with the scoring reels. It will intermittently hit all 5 with the chime like it's supposed to, but it usually only gets 3 or 4 hits. They also seems to be a little on the weak side, not striking with as much force as I notice on single hits.

The score reels always advance properly for all 5 pulses when scoring 5,000--it just doesn't always get accompanied by the correct amount of chimes.

I wasn't sure if it was of any use but I also tried adjusting and cleaning the switch on the score motor at the Impulse gear, stack A (grey-white to yellow, "Pulses Credit unit s.u., 100 pt & 1000 pt relays")...Still no noticeable improvement.

I've taken apart and cleaned the 1k relay coil and armature, cleaned and adjusted the switch for the chime on the 1k relay as well. The chime box has also been rebuilt, and everything is moving smoothly.

I'm thinking the problem is to do with the 1,000 point relay, but I'm missing *something*... Any suggestions?

Make sure the end of stroke switch is working on the 1000 pt reel and 1k relay circuit. If it’s open, you can still get the score real to move but the pulse to the chime will be short. Make sure the rubber strip that the chime plunger bounces on is the right height.

Some Williams games just don’t chime as nicely as others. I’ve even swapped chime units and the issue stays with the game. Out triple action chimes great but triple strike is muted. It’s just one of those EM puzzles

Good luck,
Dave
