Posting here for all the mandrills in the club...

I need a Grand Lizard head as mine is missing 2 of the 3 mounting tabs and has been heavily "modded". The tongue was re-manufactured and replaced and while it is functional, is not aesthetically pleasing. I would be willing to buy a full ramp set, if it included both head and tongue. I am also missing the clear ball shield located at the top of the right ramp. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Technical:

CPR does what CPR chooses to do - and that requires that there be some slim ray of hope that they'll recoup their investment. I love GL, but doubt it will ever make their cut. In the short term, I recommend getting an overlay for your upper PF and clear coating the whole thing once your overlay is installed. BGResto has already done the prototype Backglass and rearranged the backside text to align with a standard lightboard. All you need to do is place your order and give Steve about 8 weeks to crank it out.

Luzur:

I think your plastic art looks great - please keep going! You seem to have artistic talent (based on your decals in the earlier posts) so maybe you could try something other than just the stone - particularly on the larger pieces. If you could produce plastic sets and the quality was there, I would willingly pay you the equivalent of what a new set of plastics costs.

Sorry, PBholder - I was referring to the same "sticker" that you were already aware of.... while it may not be a licensed overlay, it is certainly one heck of a step up from most of the GL playfields I've seen. That deck that Capt Neo custom painted was AWESOME. Obviously, to take that route you have to be willing to drop some coin (but, well worth it IMO).

Quoted from BumperMcBaulhogh:

If there is enough interest I'll see if I can get the "prototype style" plastics made.

Bumper McB, I'd be good for a set.

#263 8 years ago
Quoted from Luzur:

its still leagues better the Anghelo pieces.

For Sure!

Quoted from BumperMcBaulhogh:

Creatively, I suggest that you keep it as close to Paul Faris style as possible.

Great counsel from Bumper. Luzur, you have the right idea and are doing a great job. That huge claw looks solid and I like the concept of a broken blade. For as much as you may not be Faris - none of of us are. Just use his style for general direction. Don't get discouraged and keep going! It sounds like you have several of us who are ready to purchase/install these when finally complete!

Whoa! Wait! PSD4 may have a head available for sale? I call first dibs! See post #215!

Great work, Luzur!

#290 8 years ago

I will gladly take a set - even two, if that's what it takes to do my part to support a production run.

#307 8 years ago

I will take a set! Thanks again, Luzur!

#317 8 years ago

Luzur, the mock up of the plastics looks incredible!

#331 8 years ago

$120USD is quite fair, assuming that the quality is good.

Quoted from BumperMcBaulhogh:

a couple key team players need to be found/hired.

Bump, what skill sets are needed?

Luzur,

I am wondering....what if the slings were designed to simply mirror the art beneath them. Note in the photo below how the area under the slings isn't white, rather fully painted. I think if the sling plastics matched, it brings continuity to the lower PF art. It may be a simple scan process with little clean up.

Thoughts?

#335 8 years ago

FWIW, I could go either way (Luzur's art vs. PF match) on the lane guide plastics. Both are an improvement to the "stock" lane guide plastics.

#349 8 years ago

Luzur: Would you be willing to do a scan of the lower playfield and add a second set of slings and lane guides that match the playfield? I for one would be willing to pay the cost of an additional 4 pieces. Anyone else want to weigh in?

All the upper ones are AWESOME! I just hate to interrupt the Farris art at the bottom...

Quoted from Luzur:

Sure, but...how do i scan the bottom playfield? i only own a regular HP PSC 1100 computer scanner/printer

Ah... fair point. Yeah, I don't have a hand scanner either. I wonder if we could take high resolution photos of the playfield and make that work...I'd be willing to try it if you want. I do not have any image editing software though.

#355 8 years ago

Mike - Honestly, I am all about it...and believe the scanner will yield a better result than photographs. Thanks for being willing to do this. What are YOUR thoughts on the lower plastics?

How long ago did you order your glass from BGResto? I paid for one back in December and am still waiting...

That's sharp, Luzur!

Quoted from Pinfatuated:

How much interest is there in alternate plastics?

Very interested, but would like to see them before committing to $250.

#530 7 years ago

Pinfatuated: you can count me in as very interested and looking forward to seeing these.

Luzur: I appreciate your efforts, like what you've created and made a commitment. I will purchase a set featuring your design, regardless of what happens with Mr. Faris.

The Lizard is KING!

#541 7 years ago

Pinfatuated:

BgResto has already redesigned the prototype glass so that the score windows and masked fields on the back side are all in the proper place. I have it installed and it is SWEET.

At least there's still hope, Luzur! Thanks for the update!

#588 7 years ago

I like them! Only thing I might have changed would have been having the slings and return lane art match the playfield. At any rate, Luzur, what you've done already far surpasses the original plastics. I can't wait to replace mine!

#590 7 years ago

That was what I meant!

#593 7 years ago

We did...but you didn't seem as keen on it back then.

I think my favorite part of your design is the two pieces on either side of the spinner. The work on the RH side is also great. You should include (for a fee) your sticker designs as well. That cage is particularly cool!

Awesome! I love those sideblades, Luzur

Correct, sir. Luzur has made his own hand drawn artwork - and it's very cool. Pinfatuated has had dialogue with Paul Farris and has a whole new package drawn to match the proto backglass art.

Personally, I am excited about and purchasing BOTH!

Luzur atill waiting for your set to be available for sale...I like it even better than the protos - come on, man!

Every time I see this thread back at the top, I hope there is news regarding new plastics being ready!

#856 6 years ago

Thanks for the update and perseverance, Pinfatuated !

#859 6 years ago

Never seen a Lizard head and I really need one.

I have spoken to Freeplay40 on several occasions about reproducing the ramps in green, but the color is a challenge for him. If he is ever ready, I can provide him with ramps for the mold, but would recommend someone also loan him your lizard heard so that he can color match as much as possible.

Sadly, I can provide the ramps, but don't have a head for him. It'd be a great thing for someone to scan so that we could 3D print...

#866 6 years ago

Pinfatuated thanks for the update and all the effort you are putting into this project. Personally, I do not have any broken plastics, but agree that the slings are most vulnerable.

+1 for REALLY wishing that someone would make replacement lizard heads...

I really need to replace the Lizard head on my machine...if anyone has a lead on one, please PM me!

#1045 4 years ago

WOW! If those heads get remade, I'd buy two (one painted, one unpainted) if necessary to justify the project!

@treborlicec - I had zero issues with the bgresto glass - it is a very nice upgrade.

RustyLizard YES! I am so looking forward to a fresh set of plastics - the original design is far superior to what was mass produced!

#1244 3 years ago

I REALLY wish that piece would be reproduced as I have had an ad in the Marketplace for years, now with no luck.

The one on my machine is ROUGH and not much better than that one that sold on eBay.

@rustylizard, you're killing me with that stash!
