Why not? Anything & everything about Grand Lizard. I'll add any useful links to this first post as they are pointed out in subsequent posts. If you own, or have previously owned, a GL I'm sure we'd like to hear from you!

With only 2750 confirmed units produced, GL is not a pin I see very often. In fact, the first & only one I've ever seen is the one I bought on April 7, 2012 from a fellow pinsider. Gameplay videos & a love for system11 pins convinced me I had to have one. It has quickly become one of my favorite titles.

General info, manuals, etc available at:

I am in no way affiliated with any pinball parts vendors. Having said that, here's some GL specific parts links that may be useful to you:

Looks good SKILL_SHOT! I likey.

this is what happens to GL when you neglect it and play with a rusty ball for a few years.

The horror!!

Its a reskinned BLACK KNIGHT almost just things moved around

Actually, it's more like a re-themed 1981 Solar Fire... also by Barry Oursler. Minus the lizard head & ramps of course.

Just had my best game on GL ever. 3 ball, factory settings. 5,958,320
Earned 3 extra balls, one special, and finally made it to the 10x multiplier! Epic game for yours truly.

Hoping not to go too far off topic but, anyone who loves GL should give Big Guns a try. The upper pf on BG is a sh*tload of fun & challenges. In fact, it's because of this that I sought out a GL. Hoping to score a nice F14 at some point as well.

Quoted from DEVILinIRON:

What steepness do you have it at? I've got the same settings as you with steepness at 7 degrees.

I think it's just above 6 degrees. Can't get it any higher for now without putting something under the rear legs. The game isn't in the game room yet though, so I'll address it later. I usually like my sys11 games set around 6.5 degrees.

Quoted from Pauz21:

Interesting you should mention that tonight sped because at lunch time today I did the same! I ended up getting 5,400,000... can't remember the exact score.

Feels awesome doesn't it?? Congrats friend!

Quoted from SKILL_SHOT:

Grand Lizard and Big Guns are the 2 pins I own and I would like an F-14 I like your taste SPeD.

Quoted from RustyLizard:

I am not an outstanding player and I have rolled GL multiple times. I don't go for bonus, bonus multipliers or multiball at all. All major scoring is done on the upper left loop.

Doesn't sound like much fun to me, but whatever gets the high score I suppose.

I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner, but I'd bet the guys over at the vpforums might have a high res scan of the whole playfield?

Quoted from mof:

2. That game is in "cheat mode" where you can cradle lower, and still use upper flipper. Ha !

I was under the impression this is not a cheat, but the correct way to set up the flippers? I mean, why else have two switches at each flipper button? Besides, operating the flippers in this fashion isn't the easiest thing to do in the first place.

Btw, my GL went down with some irritating symptoms. Wish me luck.

Err, it eventually occurred to me that you might have been kidding around mof.
Oh well, my post might come in handy for nimrods like me someday.

Folks, one of the beloved creators of Grand Lizard (Barry Oursler) & his wife needs our help. Please see the following if you haven't already.

Someone just popped his head into the top-100. Nice view eh?

Well I'll be...
Just confirms what some of us already knew.

For those of you looking for the prototype backglass:

Just tuned up my Spinner.

One of the best things one can do to a GL imo. Just the tiniest touch of Teflon gel lube makes the monkey go nuts!

Quoted from L8vid:

Here's some playing tips

One thing the vid misses. With the correct "two stage" flipper switches, it's possible to hold a ball on a lower flipper while continuing to use the upper. Still a good vid though & I gave it a thumbs up.

Speaking of the alternate backglass, one popped up on fleabay today. (But it's for the prototype arranged displays. So... if you have a prototype GL & need it. Disclaimer: Not my auction.)

Today I put up my best score so far at 8,161,280. I had a real chance to roll it beyond 9,999,999 but blew it. I didn't record the gameplay, but shot the very end with my cell phone for proof of score.

Quoted from djreddog:

Another update. I put the DMM on the two TP's on the CPU and played several games. Watched the DMM the entire time and the voltage stayed at 5.0 or 4.99, 99% of the time. Once in a great while I would see it dip to 4.98.
I played 3-4 games on it. All great games by the way. First game was 3.5 million, no issues. Second game was 2.2 million no issues. Third game I got 2 extra balls on ball 1, and made it up to 5.4 million on ball 2 when the game died. I was not in Multiball or anything and the DMM never dipped below 4.9.
Thoughts?

Mine was doing the same thing. Turned out to be the big connector... the one that connects a big bundle of wires coming from the backbox to a big bundle of wires from under the playfield. Try cleaning up the pins on that & reseat. (Or replace.)
