Quoted from OldTymeToys:

there was someone on here that did a test form of a Space Station

That was pinsider bpull. He sent me a prototype test station that looks pretty darn good. Let him finish up and make production space stations before he tackles lizard heads. I don't have a Grand Lizard yet, so...............

Sometimes Craigslist is worth looking at.

Thanks!
Playfield is really nice and the backglass is nearly perfect. Cabinet is OK.
I was shocked when I saw the upper playfield, since you couldn't see it at all on the Craigslist pics. Glad I went to check it out.

the fiancé said this one isn’t ever leaving the collection.

They might both be keepers!

Got the metal back![quoted image]

I'm normally not a fan of powder coating original chrome metal parts, but that looks GOOD!

Quoted from wrd1972_PinDoc:

Hey guys. I will be selling the GL I have, and want to see what it might be worth. I would really like to trade it for a HS if possible.
Game is fully finctional with original boards and displays. It also has full LEDs, new rubbers, and the PF cleaned and waxed. The lizard head and ramp are in perfect condition with no damage at all. Plastics are damage free but have some very minor spots wher the paint has rubbed off from either walls or brackets below, but its not really noticable at all.
PF is very nice except for some wear areas under the top drop target bank. These are noticable but someone put a clear mylar over the entire PF so no more wear can ocurr. The rest of the PF is close to perfect with no wear.
Cabinet is very solid with the usual dings. The paint is fair, but not an eyesore at all. Backglass is perfect. Wiring is excellent with no hackery.
So what does this pin sound like it is worth?
Thanks

Depends on how bad "some" wear and "usual" dings are.
Probably $1,500-$2,000.

I think the two boards to the left on the bottom of the playfield are the playfield flashers.
I think the one to the right is the flashers under the head.

I need a new one, but I'm not sure what to get and where to go for it.

You can also post a WTB ad on here. Someone switching to aftermarket displays may be selling working originals.

Quoted from wrd1972_PinDoc:

So I m getting ready to do a FULL resto on a GL. Planning to repair, repaint and stencil the cabinet. Hardtop on the PF, wooden side walls, plastics the works. Gonna have silicone bands, you name it. Anything with a blemish will be repaired or replaced.
What would you guys say the value of that would be worth?

It all depends on the quality of the work. If I stencil it the value would likely go down, since it would likely come out poorly.
Big price difference between me restoring a game and HEP doing it..

Quoted from djreddog:

Has anyone here installed a hard top yet?

Not on Grand Lizard, but I have done Space Shuttle and High Speed.
Just ordered one for my Time Warp.
Great products and I'm very happy with them.
My Grand Lizard playfield is in great shape and does not need a Hardtop. If my playfield was trashed, I would order one in a second.

Quoted from pinball_girl:

Hello!
Just joined the Grand Lizard Club and am picking up my game tomorrow (woohoo!). I found info on another site that claimed that the lizard in this game is an end boss from a video game. I have searched for more info and history on the pin, but am not having any success finding the answer. Does anyone know if this is true? And, if so, what game is it from and do you have any other info about it?

Welcome to the club!
I don't think it's a video game reference.

Very nice.
Is that playfield original, or a Hardtop?

Quoted from Robotworkshop:

What do you enjoy most about this game?

Drumbeat background sound,
Drop targets,
Multiball!

Quoted from Robotworkshop:

- Txt appears to be in German. This was a reimport machine. May see if there is just an option for English text or I can burn the US ROM set

You should be able to change that in the menu adjustments. Adjustment 51 is English/German.

Quoted from Robotworkshop:

Does the bell ever get used? If so what triggers it?

Yes, but it's infrequent. Trying to recall what triggers it and can't.

Yes, there are resisror boards for the flashers. They are on the bottom of the playfield for the playfield flashers.
63 bulbs seem to burn out pretty quickly.

Quoted from freddy:

You could change them but I wouldn’t spend too much on them almost any car speaker with correct ohms would be better than stock.

The sound amplifier built into the game is not good enough to make better speakers worth it (in my opinion).
If you want better sound, hook up an external powered subwoofer to the cabinet speaker leads.
The extra bass is kinda cool.

I have Hardtops on three games, but not specifically my GL.
I think they play great, but I know some other folks swear that they don't feel right.

Quoted from DOOOMTRAIN:

So if I was interested in doing a scratch build of Grand Lizard, does anyone know if the layout exists as a cad, or high res image somewhere?

The playfield?
Maybe you could buy a Hardtop and reverse engineer a blank piece of plywood to install under it.

Quoted from DannyDodge:

anyone have a rubber list for this game? i would rather buy local, but i need to know sizes and cant find that info anywhere.

Bottom of page 46 in the manual, available from IPDB.

Fix it AFTER you buy it, not before.
Make the deal assuming it's not going to be just a fuse, then be happy later if it is.

Edit: Either way, it's a fun, cool, weird game. So buy it!

Quoted from Robotworkshop:

No displays isn't a surprise with the battery damage and right at the ribbon cable. It will need the MPU serviced and that ribbon cable replaced to start.
That cabinet looks clean and backglass in excellent shape. The rubber rings, etc don't matter since those aren't expensive and you'd put new ones on anyway when shopping the game.

Do you think that MPU is repairable? I know you are good at that kind of work.
That's the big concern since system 9 MPUs are hard to find.
Everything else looks really good.
That's a nice looking game.

Edit: Sys 11, not 9.

#1516 12 months ago
Quoted from AlexRogan84:

is this then going to be a suitable replacement if that MPU isn't repairable?

Oops, my bad. I said system 9 above.
Yes, it's a sys 11, which is less rare, and at least is available.
That should work if the original is not repairable.

Quoted from punkin:

I'm enjoying the info, but it's left me wondering, if you sand the inserts level and then put a cover on it that's thicker, won't there be a dent where the insert is?

The Hardtop is a uniform thickness. The areas matching up with the inserts are clear, except for text or symbols.

Quoted from jaybeedee:

And like most other GLs by the sound of things my top playfield has taken a beating, especially in front of the left upper flipper. Is the decal that was talked about many years ago in this thread still available, or a good scan/image of the upper playfield in case I get the nerve to try a touch up ?
(and thanks for the LED feedback)

Hardtop is available if you want to go that way.
