Hi.

I have a gottlieb Wipeout that won't boot.

DMD controller LED is stuck on. Tried replacing U8 GAL to no success.

Does anyone know if the DMC Led should flash even if the ribbon cable to the Mpu is not connected?

If I have the ribbon cable connected to the DMC the CPU led flashes for about 2 seconds then turns off for a second, then repeats. If the ribbon cable is not connected the Mpu led flashes for a bout 1 second before it goes blank and repeats.

I hear two beeping sounds of different frequency when I power on the machine.

5v is ok and I have replaced the battery with a cr2032 and I get 3.2v from it.

Update:

Test rom runs through without problems and have tested all input and outputs. Reset circuitry seems ok since the test rom continues to run after I remove the reset circuitry bypass cable.

Since I don't have a digital oscilloscope available I haven't verified the data buss going to the DMD.

Does anyone have the binary for the u8 gal chip? I have read out the code from the original one and the new one I got and there are differences so it would be nice to verify against some other binary.

Update:

Got hold of another U8 GAL chip and now everything works!

Does anyone know if it's possible to read out the binary of a working u8 with the minipro programmer and program a GAL16V8D with the original binary code?
