I removed the coin entrance mounting plate (Gottlieb technical term) on our King Pin machine for cleaning and bulb replacement. This machine came to us very much intact, but pretty dirty. Previously, I noticed that the coin slots worked, but seemed a little slow. After cleaning up the 2 plastic quarter plates, I reassembled the unit. Now the quarter slot seems misaligned so that the quarter will only go in if you shove it past the slot. I’ve pulled it apart a bunch of times, but I don’t see any different way for it to go together. There don’t seem to be any degrees of freedom for adjustment.

I’ve attached pictures of the coin plates snapped onto the metal ledges, the assembled plate with a quarter jammed, and a closeup of the slot.

I’d appreciate any guidance. Thanks.

Pbresource sells those plastic coin slots and labels which would really dress that up. There's probably crap in those slots, jamming things up.

There are different slots for different coins. If you look closely at your first pic there seems to be a little more white above the coin slot, shortened slot, probably for a nickel or some foreign denomination. Buy a couple new "quarter" plates from pbr with the label of choice or take your dremel and enlarge.

Thanks all. I think that something got bent out of whack and there’s mechanical interference. I was able to shim the chute and now it works.
