I could use some help with my Volcano. My issue right now is during a game, the flippers will randomly start scoring points. It is mainly the right flipper but the left one does it too sometimes. I don't think it's a switch issue as I've checked most of them and when I shake the machine, it doesn't score, just when I press the flipper button. It's not just one point value either. It could be 100, 1000, 5000. Any idea on how to fix this?

Thanks,
Neil

It does sound like one or more switches may be too closely gapped. Shaking the pin isn’t really the way to tell. Try banging on the playfield hard with your fist to see if that triggers anything.

Also, try to figure out exactly which switches are triggering with the flipper. Once you determine that, you can try putting something between the contacts and then hit the flipper. If the switch doesn’t trigger, then it is likely a gap issue. If the switch does trigger even though the contacts aren’t touching, then report back as something more complex is going on.

Thanks for your tips, I was able to locate the problem switch. Turned out to be the upper right drop target switch. When the target is down and switch closed, the contacts are off-center and then the flipper vibration is causing it to score points. Should be an easy fix.

Nice! Glad you figured it out.
