Working on my Flipper Parade (1961), and I want to remove the transformer for a general board cleanup. I've removed screws but the tranny is stuck to the board with a layer of brown wax. Does this serve a purpose? Is it OK to slice/lever the transformer off the board?

The wax has just seeped down onto the board from the transformer. I use a putty knife to dislodge the transformer (one good tap usually frees it).

Thanks! I thought that might be the source of the wax (I once had that happen with an old film projector), but it's so neat it looked like it had been put there deliberately. (Now, where's that putty knife.....)
