I’ve always wanted to play The Games, never had a chance. I have its System 1 cousin Torch and love it.

Well MtnFrost it looks like this thread isn’t going to be too popular so I’ll tell you about Torch. It plays much like an em, there’s no memory so each ball starts with a reset playfield. The main objective is to lite up the ABC 123 grid in the playfield (like tic tac toe) and get as much as 10X your playfield bonus. There’s a roto target to do this with as well as 2 drop target banks of 5 each. There’s 2 pairs of lanes to enter the playfield, a gate to reset the bonus to 10K and instead of flipper return lanes, you have to nudge the machine to save the ball from exiting the playfield (similar to Lucky Hand/Jacks Open). If you ever come across one of these disregard the artwork which is rough and play the game. I bet you’d like it. Are you near Connecticut by any chance?

I wouldn’t say Torch plays especially fast but it’s fast enough. Because of its open drains where the in/out lanes are on most pins, ball cradling with the flippers is very tough to do. The ball tends to run up and out the flipper lane. I do a lot of catch & shoot and bounce passing as far as trying to control and aim my shot. BH/HH are System 80 pins from ‘81-‘82. The Games is a System 80A game from ‘84. Torch is early 1980 with a tone board for sound.

Cost saving I’d imagine.
