Hi everyone,

An odd thing is happening with my "Target Pool" machine. It's a hell of a quirk as it doesn't happen all of the time, so I'm thinking it's a score-reel issue.

Upon start-up (pushing the "replay" button on the coin door), the scores do a full reset to 0,000 but the score motor keeps running instead of the ball ejecting into the shooter lane.

Now, other times the game resets but, just before the ball kicks out into the shooter lane, a bell goes off and the 10-point relay is triggered.

The only time the ball gets kicked into the the shooter lane, and the game is ready for play, is when the 10-point relay is triggered and the bell chimes.

I'm guessing it's a score-reel issue? I don't think it's a stuck playfield switch as the relay is only triggered once and does not lock on.

Hmm..

Thank you Mister Dirt.

Bringing up an old-ass thread because my Target Pool is finally feeling better.

After years of "Screw it! It's never going to work right. Where's my new project?", I finally solved a bunch of issues tonight.

Posting them for reference.

---------------------------------------

Problem 1: Sequence Bank Resetting (the sound we know and love, "CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!", power-off)

Fix: A normally closed switch on the D relay was open, along with some super-oxidation on the switch's contact. Bent it closed and cleaned the contact dot thingy.

---------------------------------------

Problem 2: Ball does not always get shot to the shooter lane after initial reset sequence.

Fix: There was a black wire (img attached) on the Sequence bank that broke off with just the smallest of pokes. Jumped that... ball launches to shooter lane.

---------------------------------------

Problem 3: On startup, you're immediately spotted the #3 ball (light goes out and +10pts on the scoreboard).

Fix: Dunno yet. Still digging. It's not a direct short on the target itself. It must be buried in the relay switch stack.

---------------------------------------

So, we're not done yet but, hell, it's playable and that's all that really matters right now. All it does is spot ya 10 points. I'll take that anyday.

This has put me in a good and "holy hell! you actually fixed something" mood.

Have a nice weekend folks.

-Bob
