After installing a Pascal / Flippp board in a Spider-man I'm restoring, I'm getting every segment lit up very bright only on players 1 and 3 for a few seconds then blowing the onboard fuse (60V). However, displays for players 2 and 4 work perfectly and goes through the typical Flippp startup. If I have only display 1 or 3 connected, it will take longer to blow. If I connect the credits display, it blows almost immediately (all connecting/disconnecting done without the game on).

Per Pascal's FAQ, P1, P3, and credits are connected so it would make sense they are all having the same issue. I inspected and tried to narrow it down to a bad display. Between swapping displays in my other fully working Spider-man and P2/P4, all displays work, except when in P1 or P3. I even swapped the credits display and both work in my other Spider-man. Since I think I've ruled out the displays being the culprit, I'm thinking it has to be a connector. I had already repinned A1J3 and A1J2 as I was having a similar problem with the original boards before upgrading to the Flippp board.

Could it be the connectors for P1/P3/Credit? I have connectors on hand that are the correct size but it looks like the connection is different as those connectors have wires coming in and out of them, I assume since they are daisy chained. There isn't a ton of information out there about repinning these, at least compared to that of repinning the connectors for the boards.

Any thoughts/ideas on what this issue could be? Thank you

I went through similar troubleshooting you described all with Pascal's guidance and we eventually found the issues I was having...he was very helpful and patient.

I haven't but that was going to be my next step depending on what I could find out here. I had pretty much the same result before the board upgrade so I thought it could be something other than board related. You're right, Pascal's a great guy and more than willing to help. Thanks Sean

Minor update: Sent an email to Pascal, heard back right away. He said it's a fairly common problem and usually "a problem of dirty (bad contacts) or damaged connector on the display, coming from the CPU (not the display itself). check the ground first!"

I'll inspect closer tonight. I think P1 and P3 are a different type of connector than those for the boards (assuming since they are daisy chained). Any idea where I can get these to repin?

I believe the credits connector should be similar to that on the boards. If so, I'll get that repinned to rule it out.

I've repinned the credits connector but the problem remains exactly the same. I inspected P1 and P3 connectors for any visible breaks or corrosion in the pins but they look pretty clean and are all intact.

I looked in the main cab and there was one wire that was barely holding on to one of the bridge rectifiers. Resoldered that but no change.

Hopefully will be able to investigate a little further tonight.

I followed Pascal's advice and focused on checking the ground throughout tonight. Started in the cabinet and moved to the back box. Got through everything except A2J3 gave me readings of 5v when it should obviously be 0. One of the ground pins ended up being in the 5v location, even though this was a factory connector.

Super happy to have this issue resolved. Moving on to correcting the slam error and getting the pop bumpers to work.
