Hey Guys, I've been working on a Shaq Attaq which has been giving me so much trouble! Finally got the game working. Went to add some LEDs, everything was going great. Added a few more LEDs here and there, then when I booted it one time, it looked like the lamp patterns (attract mode playfield sweeps) were stuttering, and then suddenly just lost all lamps. Also lost all switches too (diagnostics shows "ALL SWITCHES OPEN"). The test button is the only thing that works, but I don't have flipper or start button switches so I can't use the diagnostics. I checked all fuses and they're all good. I get normal boot and all boards appear to be working. In the manual it says that this could be a symptom of a bad driver board, so I tried switching out the driver board with a new rottendog board and still the same issue. I read on Pinwiki that it could be a bad ribbon cable so I have replaced all of the ribbon cables as well- no difference. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Power off, reseat the ribbon cable between the CPU board and the driver board.

Also, I don't think System 3's do well with LEDs. Pinwiki or pinrepair.com may have more details on that.

Thanks for the response. The ribbon cables were brand new and reseated several times. After feeling hopeless and posting on here last night, I went back in and removed the LEDs and that fixed the condition- but interestingly enough I put them back in one by one and by the end I had installed all of the LEDs back in and couldn't find one that was causing an issue. Played a dozen games last night after putting the LEDs back in and it played well, no nonsense. There is a little ghosting here and there but nothing too noticeable or bothersome. So if anyone is having this issue and has installed LEDs- they are probably the source of your problem! Start there. Shaq is back!
