I have a system 3 that has a very high pitched squeal sound coming from the DMD itself. At first I thought the sound was emitting from the speakers, but it is indeed the display. When the plug behind the display labeled A4J1 is disconnected the sound goes away due to the display no longer being powered on. Anyone here ever seen this symptom before?? The display works fine other wise and I'd hate to drop another $200 on a new display just because of a noise.

The display is dying. It's common with Cherry DMDs.

I had one of them in my Rescue 911--it was squealing so bad, it was giving the siren sound effects in the game a run for their money.

Before you put in a replacement DMD, just check that the voltage levels are ok.

You may know this, but disconnecting display power with the game powered on will often blow U8G on the dot controller. Be careful.

    Quoted from ForceFlow:

How would I go about doing that??

This is for Williams games, but the technique and levels are the same for Gottlieb System 3 gfames.
