As far as I’m aware, ball searches weren’t implemented until later. I just verified on my game. Super Mario Bros does have a ball search function that should force eject from each of the 3 holes and run the castle motor briefly. It will not activate the pop bumpers as done on Bally/Williams games.

Do the eject holes fire properly in-game and in test? If the game plays fine otherwise, I wouldn’t worry about it.
