My first system 1... This is the machine that made me fall in love with system 1. Currently doing a little clean up, wax and new pop number caps. Also the first time I have stripped the coin door sticker and replaced with the Pinball Resource replacement.

With all the advances of the pascal board, it sure would be cool to have the machine play the tones from the space ship in the movie

Very nice. Still doing a similar clean up on mine and recently dropped in a 1st gen Ni-Wumpf board as the original Rockwell CPU was getting quite twitchy. Having actual diagnostics on board is quite nice as well. Would be a bit curious to see one day if there was a summary of the differences in the features between the Ni-Wumpf and Pascal replacement boards.

Then just spotted the route sticker on the apron and noted Medford. Regards from an Oregon export out of Beaverton!

The main differences between the two boards is the Pascal replaces all the boards. No more guess work between power supply and cpu. Million scrolling scoring, ability to input 4 digit hi score, better menus, self diagnostics, power saver feature to name a few.

This Close Encounters has had a ni-wumpf "dip switch" board (first gen) a second gen ni-wumpf with attract mode and menus, then a pascal. Of all 3 the pascal smokes everything else available. If your selling a game put a ni-wumpf in it, if its your game and you are attached, pascal.

I have this game and think it is one of the great Krynski designs, underrated as are many, likely due to the PF art. I have one in my classroom.

Are there are playfield decals made? I just got this game and it has very noticeable wear.
