Can anyone tell me the rod and ring part number for a Surfer.
I am finding conflicting info on weather it uses a long one or a short one. The parts that are in there now measure 3" from the ring bottom to the stud bottom, but i want to make sure the r&R are correct
Thanx

According to Pinball resource:

"Pop Bumper Rod And Ring:

Substitute for early Gottlieb® games before Surf Champ(1976) A1316
and for later game Surf Champ to End(BarbWire)
A16634"

Presumably, those above would also apply to the 2/4 player versions.

Best contact Jimmy @PBR to clarify

If the game has the bumper pad on the underside of the playfield, it uses the longer rod and ring, A-16634+

Has anyone received one of these longer rod and rings from PBR lately or are they out of stock?

There is no pad so it must be the shorter one.
Thanks

Then any standard rod and ring will work.

Mike, per the website he's out of stock.

May provide a substitute. (Williams)

If the williams rod and ring is used the gottlieb base plate should be removed. Otherwise the stroke will be reduced making the pop weaker.

That is true, but that is what Steve has available.

I can get you what you need. PM me.

I don't think you want to remove that plate and essentially degrade your game. That plate helps give your bumpers good action and was a brilliant design.

Or better yet, get this:

I have used the Williams replacements provided by PBR on 2 Gottliebs and they work great.
Can't get too freaked out over OEM parts. As long as you use all new parts and replace the coil sleeve you are good.

Good find. If you use that coil on an EM pin, be sure to remove the diode or you'll blow fuses.
