I just bought Gottlieb Surf Side.
The guy who owned it got it from a friend that had imported it for Amsterdam to Norway in 1977.
He played it until it stopped working in1984. When he moved to a house, he brought with him the machine, and put it in his basement. There it sat unused until today.

When looking at the machine, it has been modified by the old operator in Amsterdam I guess.
As you can see, the flippers are moved, and the targets replaced with pop bumpers. This makes the shots nearly impossible. First of all, i will try to make the machine work again, and when i get it working, should i revert it to the original state? I really want to, even though it will be some work.
But one problem will be the missing two plastics. But i guess PBR maybe can help me out?

Quoted from boilerman:

now that is what you call a MOD

A lot of effort to make that hack/mod. And I think that makes it almost impossible to hit the roto target.
The game is not working yet, but looking at the angles, it looks more like a pop bumper luck shot.

Quoted from Dr_of_Style:

Wow!!! somebody went to a bunch of trouble to remove all the wax string.
got a bag of zip ties?

Ha! i Didn`t think about that at all, but now that you say it, i am impressed that they did all that work.

Quoted from rolf_martin_062:

Not important - but funny to see: Picture-9, Pendulum-Tilt mounted upside down. Here: http://www.stevechannel.com/tiltmechanism.htm last picture, text "Chip Morton offered ..."

Good catch Rolf! I will add that to the list of stuff to fix on it.

What i am missing to do the conversion back, is the two plastics. How impossible to find are those?

And the metal back plate, is it possible to buy that?

You guys crack me up!

Thanks for all the help so far.
I will get back in the beginning of August after a holiday and start working on it.
I guess I will try to get it up as it stands now, try to play it and see how bad it is. And then see if I should put it back to the original design.

The spaghetti in the back box, do you use zip ties, or wax thread?
