Check the hold switch I THINK it's the D relay. (500 point and add bonus)
There should be a switch on that relay that's connected to the coil itself that locks it on. It sounds like it's engaging long enough to start the motor, (just enough to move it past the home position) but it's not locking on so it can complete it's job.
