Hello,

I was recently given a Gottlieb Amazing Spiderman pinball machine. When powered on, ONLY the back glass lights come on (don't blink); all displays are blank; and there is no sound. All the fuses in the cabinet check out and the 5 vdc light on the power supply in the backbox is lit.

The battery has already been removed on the MPU board. Is this likely a problem with the MPU or the driver board?

Thanks in advance for the help!

First, check voltage to the MPU. All it needs is 5VDC.

After that, it’s probably the MPU.

If you’d like, you can send the board set to me for repair/rehab. System 80 boards are easy peasy for me.

LMK.

Chris,

I went through and cleaned the connectors. Now the play-field and display light up. The display shows all zeros. I can add credits and one player (can't add multi players), but it will not kick the ball out and none of the targets will change the score. Also, the test button changes the display but I can't get any solenoids to fire or lights to blink.

I'm leaning toward it being a driver board issue. Any advice on where to start troubleshooting?

Thanks,

Troy

Update:

I found that transistor Q53 on the driver board was shorted. I replaced the transistor and now the targets are scoring. Yeah! However, when I go through test mode, I still can't get any of the light to blink or the solenoids to fire/reset.

Any ideas would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

Troy
