Gottlieb Soccer score motor and 500pt bonus issue

I picked up a two player soccer recently. It needed some normal TLC and played fine, the only exception being that the 500pt scoring/backbox animation is not working. this is my first EM pin. The spinner(s) will advance the lamps but not award 500 point bonus on the backbox. If I manually activate the 500pt bonus relay, the backbox animation works, and will award a bonus at end of ball. Then after I replaced some lamps in the backbox, the game began to not start and the score motor runs continuously. I suspect I moved something in the player unit but not sure what I did. I do have a schematic but I'm not sure where to start. I assume that the two problems are probably not related.

any ideas??

Do you have the Operator Manual? If so, it has the description of the startup sequence. With the game powered off, if you manually reset everything first, then work through the sequence, you can identify where it gets hung up. Then use the schematic to debug just that portion.

So set the score reels on zero, reset any relay banks, unlatch any latched relays, set the score motor so that position 1 is in a cam 'notch', make sure there's a credit. Then can try starting it.

But your Operator Manual will have the sequence for your game.
