does it matter which K?

spotting a K and hitting a bumper does the same thing ... tripping the 5B relay (bottom K) or 9B relay (top K). The main difference is the position of score motor when those relays trip.

take a look at the score motor 1C switch with BR-BLK and RED & WH wires ... make sure it's clean. well-adjusted and the contacts aren't horribly pitted.

if bank reset was only good when a center spot slick+chick target was hit (B relay powers) make sure the B relay make-break switch with BR-BLK on center blade connecting to OR-BLK or WH-GR wires isn't adjusted so all three blades touch at the same time. If they are, that could hide an issue with motor 1C switch.

the K bumper switches aren't sticking?

if the relay bank isn't screwed in correctly, sometimes a relay won't reset reliably. However, you'd have the issue regardless of how the reset was triggered.

Wrapped a rubber band around the reset bar where it comes in contacts with relay #9 (letter K). As a reminder the bank resets when the switches on relays #5 and #9 are closed.

Now completing a Slick Chick manually the full bank reset. Did it many times and it always reset.

So the mechanical fix on the letter bank raises some questions:

1) when Slick Chick is scored from hitting the targets the letter bank ALWAYS resets

2) when I manually engage the J relay the letter bank ALWAYS resets

With the letter bank properly resetting under these above 2 circumstances how could the issue be mechanical? Yet, the rubber band seems to have resolved the issue.

Thoughts?

Next…

2 other issues

1) when #2 rollover is scored (after #1 has been scored), it is also scoring #3 which means it’s tripping the #3 relay in the cabinet bank. The switches on relays 2 and 3 are all set correctly so not following how the extra reset us getting triggered?

When the special for scoring rollovers 1,2,3 and 4 is lit and a ball goes in the gobble hole the game starts adding credits gets stuck in add mode (game trying to give more credits).

The 1,2,3,4 special should only add a credit when any of the rollovers are scored once the initial sequence of 1,2,3,4 has been scored.

Thoughts on these 2 new issues?

Thanks

Didn’t see your last post until after I what I just posted above.

The issue was happening when scoring either K as the last letter. There were a few instances where the bank did fully reset, but most of the time Relay 9 was not holding after reset. Sometimes #8 also not holding after reset.

You asked about reset when achieved through targets. In all instances the letter bank reset correctly when Slick Chick was achieved through hitting the side targets (spots Slick + Chick) or the center target (spots Slick, Chick or Slick Chick)

K bumper switches - checked and they work correctly (not sticking).

Letter bank is not on a pivot or held with wing nuts. It is simply screwed to underside of playfield.

The cabinet bank has wingnuts and pivots.

Per your suggestion I’ll check the 1C motor switch and the B relay switch.

If there are other thoughts / suggestions please let me know.

Thanks

the difference between hitting a target and a K bumper is when J powers wrt the 5B/9B relays tripping.

when hitting a target I assume there is a delay between score motor 4C tripping the K relay and 1C closing to power J. When hitting a bumper J powers immediately when the K switch closes.

you kinda have this race condition of the K relay tripping, J powering - which powers the add advance unit coil and releases J, and the reset bank coil firing.

when a target is hit, the K relay armature will be on the bar when the reset bar powers. When a bumper is hit, it may still be flopping down. Does it matter ...

if you manually trip the letter relays and manually operate the reset solenoid with power off, do some relays always latch and others need you to pull in the plunger hard to get them to latch?

the other thing to try is adjust the 5B and 9B switches in the J relay circuit to close as soon as possible when the relay trips ... you want them closed as long as possible to maximize the power-on time of the J relay.

put a few videos at https://bingo.cdyn.com/ppm/slick_chick

the most likely thing is the advance unit switch one ... treat the NC switch like an EOS switch ... you want it to open as late as possible and have good switch wiping action when it closes.

the museum's slick chick reset coil fires hard and lifts the relay armatures higher than needed to latch them.
