I have a question about my 1965 Gottlieb score reel. On the ones and hundres reel, there is a contact board (see pic) that connects to a circular contact. It spins around as ther reel spins. My question is around orientation. This board and the silver spinner that connects to this has no markings or indications of how it should be oriented, does it matter what rotation it is at when putting it all together?

It matters a ton, for match and high score replays. If you get it wrong you won't get a match correctly on the 1s unit or a high score on the correct amount on the 100s unit.

That is a rat trap reel (and a very nice one, fwiw). The wiper unit, the circular contact as you call it, has holes that match up to the pins on the white part that shows in the center of the circuit board. They are different sized, so you basically cannot make a mistake putting the wiper back in the wrong place.

thank you for the info! However, the central plastic connector is symmetrical around 3 screws so the wiper unit can go 3 different ways and still line up. Is there a way to verify its in place correctly?

If you look closely one of the three posts is larger than the others to aid in the alingment. I can get a pic if you can not dis-certain...

What game is it? If it's a two player game you can look at the other set of score reels and see how the circular contact lines up.

You can also check the schematic for high score adjustment which shows the hundreds score reel and the number on the score reel that corresponds to the color wires on the contact points of the circuit board.

So this is a picture of the high score adjustment for a Sea Shore pinball. It shows Zero on the hundreds score reel is the Mar (Maroon wire). I would then find the maroon wire on the circuit board and then the circular contact should be on that contact if the score reel is at zero.

For the 1's score reel look on the schematic for the Match and do the same as above.

This machine is a 1965 Gottlieb Ice-Revue and what you are saying makes sense, the circular contact on the ones reel is for the match and the one on the hundreds is for the high score system.

The schematic shows the wire colors so it should be pretty easy to verify I got them both right!

Great - I also had trouble lining it up with the keyed hole - it seemed to fit in any of the three so I used the color wire method. I had a couple of games that were giving wacky results for high scores because I didn't pay attention to how the metal contact went when reassembling score reels.

There are two small pegs and one large peg on the cam. Match the wiper small holes to the small pegs. The reel has the same hole pattern as the wiper.

Just line up the two small holes of the reel with the small holes on the wiper and pegs.

I coulda sworn that those old reels had that diff pegs but I haven't had one of those era games for a long time, and in the first pic up there the pegs all sorta looked the same size.
