I've had 4 Pro Footballs and I had the same question! Yes, for some reason when Gottlieb made this, "the when lit" on ALL the lanes always stay lit. My first one I had, I spent hours trying to figure this out....probably like you did.
The pop bumpers should go on and off.
There are a bunch of videos on youtube to refer to. Good luck! I do love that game! Artwork is great and fun action. I've had 4 go thru the shop, but with that football theme, they sell well!
