    Both your pop bumpers are controlled by the same relay. This means that if either of the EOS switches does not open for some reason, the whole mess will lock up and you will have burned coils. System 1 machines do not have the EOS, but they run DC on the pops.

    The reason above is why the Ann Arbor Pinball Museum (VFW) disables all pop EOS switches. Reliability, plain and simple. I don't really notice any decrease in performance.

    My personal machines have the EOS functional.

    Do you NEED to make them functional? Obviously not. Do you WANT to? Maybe, especially if originality is important to you.
