I often come across a Gottlieb machine where the outhole kicker fails to kick the ball to the plunger consistently. I think I might have a drop in solution using a bracket/guide/gizmo that just screws onto the return guides. I've made a youtube so you can have a look.

Thanks for posting. I have one title with the same problem. I will use your idea to try and rectify.

Never had that problem with any of mine but will keep solution in mind.

I have just finished a full resto on a GTB Atlantis and as part of post resto testing I noticed, very frustratingly, that 1 in 5 balls were not at first attempt being shot to the shooting lane. Upon removal of the apron I noticed that in every 'mis-shoot' case the ball was not sitting neatly within the double ball cam and the elongated return hole permitted, on occasions, a ball to sit slightly outside the double ball cam. After checking relevant ball return, relay and score motor switches I reluctantly decided to institute a mechanical solution. A screw to reverse the negative impact of the elongated hole. Perhaps not pretty but problem solved. I have never experienced this problem with the single ball cam round hole version.

A similar solution uses a contact finger bent into an L shape to position the ball into the cradle correctly. Althou I like your solution better Wayner, built in adjustment. You also need to inspect the kicker for wear. Ive seen it where the kicker return is so worn that the cradle was sitting too low in the hole. Another screw on the underside allowed the return to be adjusted back to normal.
