Back in September 2011, I purchased a project North Star for $100. The cabinet had been painted red with white stars. The backglass was flaking and missing paint. The cabinet head was busted badly. The cabinet body had wood damage. The game was complete, but not ready to be played.

I spent October and November of 2011 looking for parts for the game. I found an original backglass that was in great condition. I found some marbled plastics lane guides. The project was going strong.

Then December 2011 came and the project got pushed back to make room for some home repairs.

It sat in my garage until the summer of 2015. Then I made the decision to finish the project. So the game was sent to my buddy Pinhead52 to begin the restoration. For his part, he agreed to do the cabinet repaint and cabinet repairs in exchange for 50% ownership of the game. Since we already share ownership in three other EM machines, I agreed.

Today, January 20, 2016, the game has made its way back to my garage to join it's EM brethren.

Came out great. So the head box is from a "Diamond Jack" I once owned, I understand. Cool how these games get new life. Nice work, Ken.

#6 8 years ago

Yes, DJ head, Central Park rails, KoD SB relay, OuterSpace coin door and $300 in parts from a certain supplier in NY.

#7 8 years ago

$84 in pop bumper caps alone

Did you spot the head from this photo, hole plugged in head?

Cool! How does the "50%" thing work? I'd never be able to do that.

Awesome game. I know you'll enjoy it.

It helps to have an even number of games in a partnership. Every 3-6 months we swap up the games. Also we tell the wives, those arnt mine their my buddies

Neptune, C37, Flipper Pool, NorthStar is the current mix.

#12 8 years ago

North Star is in my top five of 60's wedgeheads.

Great job on it Ken. I like your 50% ownership thing you got going too. I'm assuming Neptune is at your place now ha Ken? (I saw your vote for it on another thread)

#13 8 years ago

I would love to see north star get the wade pf treatment. I tried to dig up 20 but only got 5
it is a well balanced game one of my favorite 2" flippers

Never assume!

He gets it back later this year.

In an email exchange Wade mentioned he has to recreate the art for each pf, NS certainly would be detailed/time consuming. (He does have 2 Ks&Qs pfs left, got my eye one one).

Its Xericos time with Neptune but he went and lent it out, I'll hafta retrieve it at TPF time.

There was a very rough Neptune at Allentown last year, I was so tempted to snag it.

I played a Hit the Deck and liked it. Maybe some day I'll luck into one.

Neptune in "Novelty" mode, 5 rapid hits of the knocker for every lit rollover, games lights up like a Christmas tree. For that reason allow you need one Hoov

And what other 70's EM les you score 1,999,990 before rolling over.

And has an racy export version
