So I just picked up an old 1951 Niagara. No documentation, seems that not many of these have survived and info is pretty non-existent.

Could someone with some knowledge of this vintage of pin give me a recommendation about a similar pin that I could find a manual/schematic for that might help give me a vague idea about what I am looking at or if you have any info specifically for this pin that would be great. This is a very early pin for me and I am well outside of my area of knowledge.

Feel free to email me directly if you have any info that you would like to email to me in an attachment.

Thank you for the help, I am looking forward to getting this pin up and playing.

I recently got a Gottlieb 1957 up and running. PBR will probably have the schematic. You will need it and it's worth every cent.

This start up is for your style of pin;

Also see Clay's guide for repairing;

The schematic will help you understand how it works. Go through the relay bank and make sure everything is gapped and functioning properly. Believe it or not my old 1957 came back to life far easier than the late 70's era Gottliebs I have.

One thing to do is pull on each wire. I found at leat a dozen cold solder joints and they popped right off the leaf switches with a little tug on the wire.

Great looking machine and a true woody you have there! Good luck.

Not much going on when I look inside. I just don't really know what I am looking at/what each part does. Most of the relays have labels. Is there a standard lettering system that was used?

Thanks for the links.

Definitely check with these guys for a schematic. It's vital. Unless you'd rather follow wires around and draw your own.

What's it do at the moment?

I owned one of these for a short while while trying to restore it. Sold it to some guy I think from Pennsylvania who met me in Indianapolis. He had a few other machines he'd picked up then. Wish I hadn't gotten rid of it as it was as of yet the only pin I've ever owned. Not the most fun as the flippers are widely spaced but still had that magic of the sounds and feel of the pop bumpers. Will look around as somewhere I was sure I actually had a copy of the schematic, but it might have been lost.
