I'm trying to find a replacement transistor for a Gottlieb system 80 driver board.

    I need the MPS-U45.

I looked it up here on pinside. The old post states that the 2N6043 is a correct replacement.

Is this the right one to buy?

A CEN-U45 is a direct replacement. bigdaddy-enterprises.com, digikey, mouser, and marco still carry them.

I'm not sure about alternate substitutes.

Nice find. I'll have to check them out and see what else they have the next time I get an order together.

When I first introduced these several years back, Central Semi used to sell them at $0.30 each. Now they no longer sell to us 'low life' small distributors.
