Hello everyone!

I recently acquired a 77 Lucky Hand I’ve been working to bring back to playing condition. This is my first pin, so I’m in a bit of information overload!

I just put in my first PBR order, so still waiting on the schematics, but figured maybe someone here had some ideas.

My current issue I can’t solve:

Gameplay starts great, the start sequence seems to be firing properly. I typically can play for a few minutes, but then I notice my scoring is no longer incrementing.

When this happens, I still get chimes, and I see my back switches (N-M-etc) all engaging when a roll over/target is hit. I’ve gone through and checked to make sure no playfield targets were sticking (can manually active all), and I cleaned my decagon scoring wheels (all move smoothly and can increment properly).

I do see my “score wheel” (I think it’s called”) still rotates when I manually trip targets.

So I’m a bit stuck on what to check! Any other relays? I would think the N,M and thousands (can’t recall its letter) would be triggering the scoring wheel solenoid to turn...if I start a fresh game manually triggering these makes the decagon wheel move.

I’m at a bit of a loss! Game still progresses fine (add a balls, drop targets, chimes)...just no scores randomly. If I drop in fresh credits, my wheels properly reset and scoring comes back for a while. Happens randomly, can’t seem to replicate a pattern, or score.

Cheers!!

Hi Dave, Welcome to pinside!!

If the 10s score reel solenoid doesn't pull in when the 10 Point score relay (N) does, starting with the switch on the Hold relay (R),
Inspect and diagnose this circuit with Alligator clip jumper wires

If your ever in Buffalo, I owe you a beer!

Relay R was the culprit, thanks for the information and explaining what it does. There’s so much to learn! I don’t have my gator clips yet (on order from Amazon), but I did give her a nice cleaning. She’s working nicely again, was able to get a solid few games in.

Thanks again!

Is there anything consistent to the stop in scoring, such as the ball # it happens on, or any other change in behavior?

The NO switches 4A and R are the only ones common to all scoring.

Thanks for the reply- there wasn’t anything consistent, I tried every which combination I could think of!

Good to know about 4a too, I’ll look at that in the future if it comes back.

As of now, I think my R relay was acting up. After a bit of cleaning/fresh file game scoring stays on until I run out of balls. Even tried manually racking up the score and it held nicely

Only things left on my list are to clean my center pop/rebuild (it’s a slow return up) and rebuild the flippers once my PBR order comes in. Knock on wood!

Is it normal to hear “we are the champions” playing every time a bug is fixed?
