Quoted from hjh632:Made sure the switch was clean and moving up and down with rotation of the KS unit. Checked the solenoid at the A relay and found the resistance didn't register. Hooked two AA batteries to it and it didn't budge. Have ordered a replacement solenoid and will put that in and see if it solves the problem.
Very strange. When coils go “bad” it’s usually because they were energized for too long, heated up, melted the insulation, and shorted out. You would get a reading of nearly zero ohms if that were the case. But you’re not getting any reading at all? The coil could be fine—it’s very high resistance and would take forever to burn up—but one of the windings might have broken off the lugs, which would account for there being no resistance reading.
