I have a Gottlieb wedge head that had damage to the 1/4" surround on the light box. Fortunately, I saved an old front panel that I salvaged a section of the thin layer. After MANY trials in color matching the paint, I am happy with the results. I also purchased a Spatter Brush and used thinned out black lacquer.
Paint used was DecoArt "Sunny Day Yellow", "Buttermilk", "Fawn", and "Warm White".

But for a gloss or satin finish, don't try to use a Poly. It turns the color much darker. DecoArt has their own satin and gloss finish with no color change.
