Finally found a FD to restore. Anyone have a spare repop playfield? I emailed Wade, have not heard back yet. the Fast Draw BG on my project is a 7, reds trashed (bg resto or Shay has these $300 plus) plastics both broken on each side (pbresource has these $80) and the playfield has the normal wear at the kickouts but actually not bad otherwise but if I'm going to do the other two, might as well make it new. Anyone ever make stencils for the cabinet? I can make my own but would love to save the time. Used one of Wades PFs in my El Dorado, top notch work! I also redid the cabinet, new plastics, pops, flippers, bg, posts, drops, coin door, legs..basically a new machine.

My friend and collaborator Wade Krause recently completed a run of Gottlieb licensed reproduction Fast Draw(4 player)/Quick Draw(2 player) playfields. If you're interested in one, he can be reached at wadeotornado[at]yahoo[dot]com
Recommended.
FastQuickDrawReproPlayfields.JPG

Anyone have one of these they would like to see put to good use? I have a project I want to do up to new.

If not, I need 20 pf commitments to get Wade to do another run. I'll take 3!
17 to go. Anyone want to join me?

Thanks!

John

Wade says he has about 4 others interested he could not fill orders for because they were late to the party. He also advised that many of his Kings and Queens orders never followed through so I told him I would get a total from folks willing to put down a deposit, say $100 each pf. Cost will be $650 each going forward BTW (plus shipping)

Keeping a tally here (JR), I picked up another for sure customer. that's about 10 to go.

#22 8 years ago

Please PM me with your email and willingness to put down a deposit of $100 toward a PF. Wade is concerned about empty promises and getting stuck with inventory.

Long line ahead of other projects. I'm getting anxious and might do a hand repaint of mine though I would really like one of Wades.

Quoted from WeirPinball:

I'm pretty sure you guys missed the boat - I bought 2 from the run and I don't think there are plans to do a re-run. He just completed Knock Out and is working on Atlantis now.

We need 20 committed to purchasing to get on the production schedule.

#42 7 years ago

John In NC = 1,2,3 (I only need one maybe 2 for good measure, stretching to 3 to get this going, I encourage others to take 2 to get this going as well)
KOZ-MIPINBALL = 4
Tbone47 = 5
Kingpinman = 6
rcarlson = 7
Jigs = 8

Plus approx. 4 Wade had waiting, we need at least 6 more buyers then I can contact Wade, confirm we can get on his schedule, if yes, Would need $100 deposit from each of you to assure everyone is solid.

If your name is above and you are now out, say so.

#62 7 years ago

Good news!! Wade thinks he has enough requests with the personal requests he has received himself. I will PM each of you to check your seriousness.
"Hi John, thanks for doing this. Its best to contact me at ... [email protected] I have at least 4 titles in line with 20 people committed and from experience, if a title doesn't happen within a certain timeline, people will drop out because they have sold the game or spent their money on something else or just lost interest. I hope to crank out a four projects this year so you would be looking at 2018 before I could do Fast Draw again. Maybe by that time a few more people will step up."

HOT UPDATE:
Wade says:
"Centigrade is done and I have ordered more wood to do Fast Draw. Once the wood is received the whole project should be completed in 3 months. Hopefully, less time because this is a reprint. The files are finished and dialed in. I don't foresee the trouble I had with Centigrade and the unfortunate problem I had with the router."

First quality playfield quantity is NOT guaranteed, there WILL be seconds and the run will be limited.
There will be a minimum of 20 up to 30 playfields produced (more MAY be possible based on interest)

Playfields are shipped in order (best of the batch) by payment received. The price is 710.00 shipped.

Wade will make an announcement to those that have provided him their emails on how to place your order/submit deposits and when.

I HAVE NOT provided Wade Emails for the following users:
Smurf45 Aphil3025 Conester Eceng PinballRx (EMAIL Wade Krause <[email protected]> IF YOU WANT A PLAYFIELD)

All others that provided me their emails and I have passed them on to Wade.

#139 3 years ago

I got my email last night. Already paid for mine!

Side note: Please contact Wade from here on, I have no more info than I have provided here.
I paid with PayPal Friends and Family as I trust Wade and don't like fees.

Wade is planning on 30, as of today 6/29 only 12 remain!

Wade had indicated the insert colors would need to be screen colored as the correct color inserts were unavailable. From what I see it looks like he was able to source the correct color inserts.

#150 3 years ago

Decided to start with my Quick Draw project first. Stripped the cabinet down And depopulated the playfield. Think I’ll take the time to create reusable stencils as I’ll have to do my Fast Draw later.

Quoted from paulace:

John in NC - did you just hose that playfield down, or is it actually bubbled up like that? That's some impressive wear from the kickout holes too! I hadn't seen that long pattern before - usually just one nice deep divot. But strangely enough, the paint around the bonus inserts looks pretty good!

I sprayed some mean green on it just before snapping the picture. This playfield is actually very fixable. I'll set it aside and possibly touch it up one day.

Cabinet repair mode while I wait for my Cowpoke clear to cure. Note the minor differences between the cabinets, Quick Draw cab missing blue rock shadow detail on front of side art and is less detailed. Never had 3 machines in work at the same time. I’m guessing I’ll be plowing through these all winter.

#161 3 years ago

I’m getting ready! Cabinets repaired and ready for filler and paint. Curious that quick draw was 100% plywood and fast draw had mdf panels (replaced as they were sawdust clumps). Also there were differences on the cabinet art. The fast draw has much more detail. I Think I’ll go for chrome on Doors coin bezels, shooters and polish the rails to a better than original chrome look.

#163 3 years ago
Quoted from sudsy7:

From the pics you've posted, I cannot tell any difference. Maybe post a side-by-side comparison for those of us that aren't that observant? It's interesting - I wonder if that's by design or maybe there was 2 different cabinet makers involved and somehow one of them unintentionally lost some of the detailing in their stencils.

Mane on lead horse detail, rock shadow missing on quick draw. Art under leg area extended on one. Wagon dust (red) many subtle differences. I copied the more detailed cabinet for my stencils.

#165 3 years ago
Quoted from sudsy7:

Thanks. Yeah, easy to see differences when they are side by side like that. I notice the orange horse even has a "clubfoot" on Fast Draw. I think they both look nice though - I wouldn't paint over either one if they were mine.

There’s extensive repair to other sections of the cabinets necessitating paint to match. I’m also putting in new playfields so no half measures.

#167 3 years ago
Quoted from sudsy7:

I can see it from your viewpoint, but I still prefer the 45-year old patina so long as there isn't major damage (and I'm also putting a new playfield in mine).

The fast draw was stored in a wet seaside shed with rotted mdf. Bondo is your friend with basket cases like this.

Quoted from Smoothy:

The cabinet may be rough, but the playfield in that looks pretty darn good.

It’s salvagabee But I bought it to put one of the two Wade Krause reproduction playfields in. I’ll probably touch it up and resell one day

Hey wait you got three!?
Thanks for orchestrating John! Merry Xmas

Look closer, the one on the left is my original from Quick Draw. It's very salvageable though. The one from Fast Draw is still populated. Left it intact for comparison so I didn't have to take pictures for reassembly. I'll Populate one, then tear into that one.

#182 3 years ago
Quoted from sudsy7:

It looks like somewhere along the line, the yellow "SPECIAL" area was touched up & modified on your original

Correct it was repainted at kick out areas at some point and Mylar applied. I peeled off the Mylar thinking I might fix it starting on some Sunday in 2022 as well

I’m having mine auto cleared. Going to be insanely fast. New backglass from Shay, new plastics, new cabinet repaint and thinking I’ll go chrome finish across the board. Quick draw and fast draw, my brothers 60th is coming up, thinking I may surprise him with one. But which do I keep? Hmmm

4 weeks later
#202 3 years ago

The clear was a bit too thin for me. Had someone do automotive clear on the two I have. Guess I’ll have to go whole hog on these restores. No turning back now.

Under normal home use the way it comes is fine to install.
I could feel the individual screened colors in the finish but I believe they would hold up with the clear that Wade put on them under normal home use. I was already clearing other playfields so I just wanted to bulletproof them.

Fast Draw playfield swap happening. I really don’t know which to keep. What’s preferable, all things bring equal, a 2p or 4p? I know most will opt for a 2 player but I’m leaning toward the more functionality of the Fast Draw 4p

Quoted from frenchmarky:

Also Fast Draw's backglass has just as much busy artwork as Quick Draw. Only lost a little on the right side from the two extra reels, but they replaced the stagecoach with the big bank at the end of the street with cowboys and a horse. Most times with a 4 player you only give up some artwork.

Getting ready to order a replacement backglass. I just wish Shay would run fast draw with orange versus white on the logo and dress like the original. Here are my two restored games with playfields installed.
