To start, focus on the zero position switch on the credit unit. Make sure the unit is greater than “0” and that switch is closed. Then focus on switches on the “y” and “s” relays.

If all is right, pressing the coin door button will energize the “y” relay. The “y” relay has a switch that will energize the “s” relay. The “s” relay has a switch that will start the score motor.

Clean and adjust all the switches in this post. Credit unit and “y” and “s” relay switches

Update,I'm gonna need a few days to make repairs, going thru entire machine.they are just to old now.needing a few coils and parts .will order this week.i appreciate you guys patience with me.sorry I didn't have more done .will be back ,hopefully by weds or thurs with machine ready to troubleshoot better.i feel the condition it's in now would be wasting your time.again sorry I wasn't better prepared with my prep work.but will be back this week ready to go.again thanks guys for hanging with me on this.i want to get it running asap, and not let all you piinsiders down.

#253 5 years ago

Pafasa, will pay special attention to relays you mention.and the credit unit again.again thanks for help.please check back this week if possible,so I can keep you updated on progress.again thanks.

It’s all good. Take your time. It’s cold and snowy here. Not going anywhere!

#255 5 years ago

Ok. Now my player one 10k reel isn’t working All others are ok. Suggestions ? I can hear clean those switches in the reel. Correct ? Other tips or remedies? It does work about once every ten times. Ugh

I would check the switches on the 1000 point reel when its in the 9 position.

#257 5 years ago

Will do tonight ! Thanks

#258 5 years ago

What did you find on your 10k problem nick?

#259 5 years ago

Just getting started on that now. Finally have Pb time! Lol kids. You feed them one time and they want to eat the rest of their lives ! Lol

#260 5 years ago

This is how it’s looking in the 9 position It seems spread apart more than the one next to it which was at 4

#261 5 years ago

Nope. Same as the others when they reach 9. Cleaned the switches. Still not hitting. I’ll keep looking

#262 5 years ago

Let me throw this out there. Could it be one of the relays say L or M? I guess I’m being lazy. I should find the schematics and look it up myself. I’ll get this. Last item on it (again). Lol. This one machine has taught me so much and a joy to fix. Still - thinking of selling her to start on the Double Barrel . Next!

#263 5 years ago

And just like that she’s back ! Just needed the relays cleaned Went ahead and got them all. Want this to be right! Thanks guys!

Looks really nice. I love the wear around the flipper buttons. Shows the love this machine got in its prime.

#265 5 years ago

Pretty nice backglass too. Typically, the shooter guy has flaking in his outfit and I can't even see any fade where the anti-rattle foam pieces contact the glass.

#266 5 years ago

Hey guys, just finished under playfield .still have bottom cabinet relays to do and I will be ready to troubleshoot .I should be ready in a few days.hang tight.

Real nice nikrox2,what I noticed about these playfields, they all have a bad spot under the 8 ball kick out on right side of triangle.any one else notice that about these playfields.wonder why?. Any one know story behind it.

That is where the 8 Ball saucer kicks the ball.

#269 5 years ago

Yep! I’ve left mine as is. It is actually very smooth there (it almost an optical illusion ). It looks like a deep hole. But when I rub my fingers over it still very smooth. So as with the other items on her I’ve tended to leave things original.

Pafasa,(UPDATE).finished going over bottom cabinet relays,ect..going to double check switch adjustments tommorrow and plug in and try to start game.will post results of what happens.found many issues.and repaired.may need a few coils as we go.but have replaced some and have a few new ones if needed.again thanks guys for hanging with me.i think it will work this time with a few adjustments.

Hi guys, plugged in machine.when I did.game started on its own.score motor keeps turning.left drop target bank keeps resetting.and S ,start relay and V,replay button relay( coils) keeps activating .pulling in and releasing.guessing by the score motor.any suggestions on what to do next. HELP!! ha ha.i think it's better than was before.at least getting power thru machine.im going to try again ,see if anything else moves.

#272 5 years ago

Also wanted to say.coil in door moves also, see pic.

( see pic).,two white wires.same thing.motor turns,same 2 relays activate,motor stops.at least I know power is running thru machine.

Coin lockout coil on coin door should engage as soon as machine powers up. Thats normal.

check your switch positions on the left target bank. Compare them switch by switch with the right bank (under the assumption that the right bank is correct. My guess is something on the target bank may not be opening when it should as the bank resets.

#276 5 years ago

There is an additional switch where I have circled. I'm not 100% sure but I think those close when all targets are dropped and open when targets are reset. If this stays closed even after targets reset, you might get the symptom you described with the constant reset.

#277 5 years ago

Pafasa, thanks,I checked switch.all switches.same as other side.middle reset switch closes when drop targets are down.replaced coils.had some for other game (5196s).no fuses are blown.what sends power to those coils.maybe there?.

#278 5 years ago

If it only overruns the motor when the playfield is plugged in, then we need to look for other things on the playfield that cause the score motor to run. I’ll look some more at the schematic tomorrow. Those drop resets are on the 25 volt circuit. Look at the bottom of the schematic and see what switches are involved in drop target reset. Start investigating there.

#279 5 years ago

Hey,thanks,I was thinking same.thats why i shotgunned pf earlier.i will also look at wires going to coils.just thought maybe it leads to score motor switch.i looked them over also.they seem adjusted fine.and drops did work in beginning.again thanks.will talk tommorrow.

1) When you turned it on with the playfield installed, was a the playfield down and a ball installed in the outhole?
If "YES" then move on to question 2.
If "NO" then try the game again with a ball in the outhole, and then move on to question 2 if needed.

2) You said the game started but the motor kept spinning and it looked like target bank reset kept cycling. Did the machine send the ball to the shooter lane?
If "YES" and the game kept cycling even after the ball went to the shooter lane, then check the runway switch, (Located at G-3 on the schematic) between the outhole kicker and the shooter lane. That switch should open as the ball rolls over it on its way to the shooter lane.
If "NO" check the contacts on the outhole switch and the switches on the "O" relay. We need to get the outhole solenoid firing.

#281 5 years ago

The ball is in outsole, but coil did not fire.sorry, but I need to slow down.still havnt repaired drop target problem .and lower bank will not work either.thats why I was wanting to know if score motor switch controlled that.i see on schem drop targets are first off power source.but can't find where.i see wires off fuses, but do not know where other side should connect to main power source as schem shows unless I'm reading it wrong.the ball kicking out should be about last in reset cycle.i havnt got thru first step.

#282 5 years ago

I understand your concern. When you took the playfield off, the motor turned 1/3 and then stopped? If this is the case. I think we need to stay focused on the playfield. The constant drop reset may be a symptom of something else. If you checked all the drop switches and they are adjusted properly, I'd move on from that. Take a closer look at the outhole switch contacts making sure that they make good contact when the ball is in the outhole. Then look at the "O" relay and make sure all switches there are working as they should be.

#283 5 years ago

Hi pafasa,ok ,I'm with you now.i resoldered outhole switches.resoldered and adjusted switches on O relay.see pics.also both switches are closed when ball is just sitting in outhole.is this correct? I checked coil also.reads 15 ohms.i think I have power failure problem somewhere.what do you think.?
