Hello,
I have a 1984 Touchdown that when recently turned on, started flickering and clicking loudly. All the lamps on the deck and the backglass scoreboard flicker including the scoring displays. It will actually start in this frenzied mode but the flippers do not respond. I tried to post a video taken from my IPhone but Pinside will not allow it.
Thank you in advance for any advice available.

Try reseating the driver-mpu interconnect

Remove your translight. Behind it you'll see several PCBs. There will be some edge connectors and maybe some ribbon cables. Try reseating the edge connectors and the ribbon cables.

Do this with the game off.

Here is some more info.

Thank you both for the advice. I will try reseating when I get home this evening and will report results.

It Worked! Thank you guys for the simple fix. I just reseated the three connectors on the power supply board. It seems like a brand new board. The "J2" connector doesn't seem to fit very well. It slides up or down just a bit. Any way to tighten?

Can never hurt to replace the connector. Even if the board is new chances are the connector is still original.

Quoted from Sabre68:

You will likely have to change it to a locking friction ramp molex connector. That's probably what the replacement power supply is designed to accept.

If I had to guess, Molex 09-50-8061.
