Quoted from NicoVolta:

My uncle invented the LED wristwatch and still wears it... haha

I guess that makes this one obsolete.

My point was analog watches and clocks look nicer than digital. Score reels look nicer than digital displays. My opinion, can't knock me for that.

Quoted from o-din:

Apparently it cost too much to put a set of real bells in Whoa Nellie.

And the gobble hole. Holes through wood are expensive and Stern doesn't do subways.

#104 8 years ago

Ah, it was the subway! i've been racking my brain on that one.

No worries... just being silly. I agree, BTW. Reels rule. Just don't tell my uncle...

Check out Metallica for a current game with a subway.

This guy bought his first GEMINI $10.100 to Pinball Girl in 2013 :

He's either trying to feel out the top bid or decided he was going to win it one way or another. Then maybe he realized that if someone else had that strategy it could turn out to be the most expensive pinball ever.

I'd guess it was a legitimate typo, since he has the current high bid of 7100.

#113 8 years ago

Oh, that makes sense.

#114 8 years ago

Something fishy......
Same buyer with same feedbacks?
2.5 years apart?

Here is to hoping that this selling price is only relates to this particular game. Not every other Gemini, or other rarer EM pins.
To paraphrase Realtors "Condtion, condition, condition". Throw in a Location, as well if the game is to far away, and shipping adds to the overall cost.

#116 8 years ago

The example that sold as noted above for $10K was not as nice as this one.

#117 8 years ago

Sounds as if e***e is upgrading......

Money talks

#118 8 years ago

Pretty sure this profile is a fake, used to increase the bids. Check the history of the account :
30-Day Summary
Total bids: 2
Items bid on: 2
Bid retractions: 1
Bid retractions (6 months): 2

2 bids, 2 retractions...

#119 8 years ago

Sounds as if one of his retractions might have been a typo on his part - $71,100 was retracted (see post above by Shiny_balls) and a current bid of $7,100 was placed. So, that means he had another retraction in the last 6 months besides this one. But, I find it hard to believe he has 424 positive transactions at 100% rating and is running this price up unless it's a stolen account which I doubt. ??????

I'll take a couple of long, very nice trips to Hawaii instead...

I think we should be happy that EM's can fetch a good price like this. Hope it goes for double what it is at currently.

With your restore abilities Dave as well as a bunch of other people in this thread a dog of a game would be in pristine condition in a jiffy. So you would never pay this because that's not what you enjoy.

But others want the game to play and show off but don't have the skills to restore it and are happy to pay the full price.

I think pristine EM games are all under valued.

Just saying.

The seller doesn't have much history. Total feedback is 4. Hopefully, the buyer will check out this game before paying for it.

i agree steve. really the only title affective by this auction is gemini. it already had a high price history so it isn't a big surprise.
i would like to have one but it isn't a title i have to have. it does help kick sand in the face of those dmd guys that say em's are not worth much.
like you said i much rather find those diamonds in the rough.

#128 8 years ago

Less than a hr to go. $7,200 is current bid.

#130 8 years ago

And there you have it. $7210. Not nearly as exciting as I thought it might be. Oh well.

Evidently, the second highest bidder entered too many digits with his/her bid, resulting in a retraction and a corrected, albeit losing bid.

Bid retraction and cancellation history
Bidder Action Date of Bid and Retraction
e***e ( 424Feedback score is 100 to 499) Retracted: US $71,100.00
Bid: Feb-02-16 15:04:40 PST
Retracted: Feb-02-16 23:19:35 PST

It's a $2500 machine! Someone overpaid. Too much hype

Weird that it took the fellow 8+ hours to retract the bid.

The market disagrees with your "$2,500" price point. I agree that someone paid a hefty price, but I'll just respectfully disagree that the winner of the auction overpaid.

I was hoping to have an opportunity to snipe it for $6,000. That plan went out the window pretty quick.

I hope the winner is a Pinsider and that we see more pictures of this game in the future!

The bidder likely failed to realize the error because the bidding cycle did not produce a competing bid. The bidder's eBay home page would have displayed his high bid, which is probably how he discovered the mistake.

#136 8 years ago

I don't think there is a market for the machine.

That's about how long it takes me to regret my drunk internet spending.
