It is generally considered an upgrade to install the thicker bushings. This makes the flippers more robust to flipper drag.

That is not the case. The thicker one protrudes 0.640 and the thinner one protrudes 0.602 for a 0.038 difference.
Additionally, the thicker base is less prone to break.
Two robustness actions to reduce the possibility of flipper drag.
