Gottlieb Flip A Card: 50pt relay tripping targets

Hello all, I purchased a Gottlieb Flip A Card a few months back and had an issue spring up that I cannot seem to figure out.
The 50pt relay in the bottom of the machine, when activated either through a target or manually by hand, will award 50 points, but it will also activate the solenoid for relay #5 and relay #7 in the card relay bank attached to the bottom of the playfield.

So whenever a target for the card bank is hit, it activates that card, plus #5 and #7. Anyone have any ideas what is going on? I cant seem to find any wires that are touching that would be closing the circuit to even activate the other 2 numbers like it is.

Not looking at a game or schematic but it was common for Gottlieb to make a 3 bladed Spot target switch.. One blade is common, one is for tripping the relay bank, and one goes to all of the targets that score the same value (50 points).

So, if two of the blades are touching, nothing happens. But, when another target it hit, there is a path through the 50 point switch blade to feed the trip relay coil. Check to make sure all of the triple blades are not touching.

There is another possibility to. The same approach is sometimes done through a make break switch on the trip bank. When the trip relay is un-tripped, a leaf switch routes the target switch to the trip coil. Once tripped, the leaf switch re-routes the target to the 50 point relay. If one of those are touching, it has the same effect described above. In the case of the trip bank, sometimes it is as simple as the bank not being fully seated in the mounting bracket slots (wing nuts). This allows the bank to twist a bit and put the leaf switches slightly out of adjustment.

Ok thank you for the info, Ill give them a once over and report back with any findings.

Ok, so one of the problems was as you described. A few of the target leaf switches were closed when they should of been open.
So no the 7 does not trip when the 50py relay is activated.

New problems are persisting though. When the #5 relay is tripped, it takes #7 with it. When #10 is tripped, it takes #8 with it.
#8 target scores 50pts but does not activate its #8 relay in the target bank.
#6 switch trips #3 relay, scores no points.
Ace switch does nothing.

Is it set to 3 Balls? Most games join sequence targets to make it accomplish-able in 3 ball instead of 5 ball (for which it was really designed).

Excellent, you were right on! I switched it over to a 5 ball game and each target lights up its corresponding light now. Just have to figure out why the 8 target and ace roll over are not doing anything and it will be 100%. Thanks so much for your help. Just your two suggestions fixed almost everything.

The most likely cause of both are a make/break leaf switch on the trip bank. There is a switch that, when the relay is un-tripped, routes power to the trip coil (Ace is trip bank position #1). Once tripped, the position #1 switch routes power to the U relay (500 points) but it does this through a make/break switch on trip bank relay position #14. This is the special relay and changes scoring points to scoring replays (sequence complete).
