I need some help with my spirit of 76. It was fully functional about 2 days ago and now won't eject the ball. I can manually activate the relay and I tested the coil it works. Plus the bonus score drains too. I tried to follow @pinsiders CHRIS HIBLER guide But couldn't get it to activate the coil when I hook the cord to yellow-black cord it just activates the bottom coil for bx. But if I jump the orange - black cord in the coil to negative, it works but won't stop. So I am completely lost so any help would be great. Thank you in advance

This is the circuit that fires the "Ball Return" coil (in red):

Just a few switches to check: BX, O, Motor 4C and Motor 1A.

If your Hole Kicker fires, then you know the motor switches are good.

I had something similar and it was the O relay not activating, so that O switch (on post # 2 diagram) never closed. Used the schematics to see what fired the O relay and found it was a switch on the AX not making.

Sorry for the late reply, can you maybe send me an image of what I am supposed to be checking, cause no matter what I do I can't seem to figure this out.

My last message came off a bit wrong. I am reading the diagram and checking the switches where there supposed to be and can't find anything wrong. So I was wondering if anyone can send me a couple of images of exactly which ones I am looking for.

Have you found the relays (BX and O) in paulace 's diagram? Can you identify the switches he has indicated, based on their wire colors?

I'm not sure what your skill level is, so I hope this is not too simple.

To check and see if the O relay switch makes contact or that the O relay even closes, first find it. It will look like the photo I've included. There should be a label "O RELAY". Find the switch on the O relay that has a BL-YEL wire and a OR-BL. See if it makes contact when you manually close the relay. Try to start the game...does the O Relay engage and close at some point?

Do similar for the Bx relay. Get the wire colors from the schematic in post #2.

With me so far or too slow/too fast information?

Normally I would say I know what I am doing, but these days I no clue what is going on.

I have checked o and bx relays cords theylook fine but I'm not 100% sure, o relay does not activate during startup, yes I'm with you so far.

If the ball is sitting in the outhole, the bonus counts down, but then the ball doesn't kick out - check the "Zero Position Bonus Unit" switch next - it's on the bonus unit, mounted under the playfield. You'll see it on this picture from Pinball Resource...

I'll find and attach a pic of the switch...

Here's a picture of the switch on the bonus unit. I've also marked the bonus up/down arms. With the power off, you can add and subtract bonus with those two arms. When the bonus gets to zero, the upper part of the circled make/break switch (WH-OR, WH-BL) should close and the lower part (WH-BL, WH-BR) should open. Make sure the switch is clean and operating correctly.

I don't have the schematic. If you have one find out what turns on the O relay coil, similar to what Paulace did for the ball return coil in post # 2. See what switches are in line to turn on the O relay coil like Paulace did for the ball return coil. Is the Ax one of them? Check that switch first if so. Probably a score motor switch, too that can be checked for good contact. I'm hoping someone has a schematic snippet they can post.

Quoted from paulace:

If your Hole Kicker fires, then you know the motor switches are good.

Curious as to if the hole kicker fires as Paulace asked. It really would eliminate the score motor switches in post # 2.

The hole kicker fires, and I figured it out with your help it was the top contact on the bonus unit was bent out of place, thank you for all the help.
