We have a 1960 Gottlieb Texan 4 player. As with most EMs there is a lot of trial and error figuring how score motors, ball count unit and other motors work.
Hopefully this will be useful for those with this style of Gottlieb ball count unit.
The top pic is the wiper side of the unit and the bottom pic is the business side of the unit (faces towards the front of the game).
To adjust the ball count unit. Turn the power on. Make sure the large wiper side wheel is all the way counter clockwise and aligned so the 1st player scoring lights up. If it does not light up loosen the three screws and move right or left so the spring contact is perfectly aligned atop the contact pad when the 1st player scoring is lit. Tighten the three screws down.
You will then need to adjust the travel of the wiper to align the spring contact with the contact pad until the second players scoring lights up.
To get ready for adjustment press the stepper coil one stroke to move wheel to the second player contact. When in position check to see if the spring contact is centered on the contact pad and the second player scoring is lit.
If the second player scoring is not lit you will adjust the wheel travel limiter. This will insure the contact spring and the contact pad are perfectly aligned.
To do this look at the bottom pic. On the right hand side you will see 2 screws one above the other. When these are loosened the bar they hold on will slide up or down and limit the coil bar at the bottoms up or down travel. Adjust the bar till the spring contact and the contact pad are aligned and retighten.
Reset the game and see if your ball counting and player score lighting is working correctly.
Any questions or errors I've made or a better explanation of the procedure add your 2 cents or let me know and I'll correct.
Hope this makes sense and helps somebody.
