Started this trashed Eclipse playfield. Very rare game. Less than 200 made. This playfield had full mylar added, top to bottom. 99% of the field was covered in one big sheet of mylar. Upon removing the mylar, I found out why they did it. Several issues.

1. Had a ton of home made touchups done
2. Custom printed inserts that were not even close to the original art
3. Wood graining in tons of places, that released big chips of ink. The ink was already stuck to the mylar before even started removing.

Tried freeze, heat, and pulling. no matter what, the ink was already let go from the playfield and fused to the mylar. When I saw those black circles on the field. I looked up if they should be there, because they didn't look right. Not only were those black circles not suppose to be there, but all the art on the inserts is completely wrong. It's not suppose to be black numbers. it's suppose to be black inserts, with clear numbers that let the light through. This is going to be a huge undertaking.
I'm doing a level 2 on this field. Level 2, I only touch up visible areas of the field, when it's put together. areas, under plastics, posts and stuff are not touched up. Level 3, I touch up everything. Hidden or not. I will document some of the process of this field.

this is my work in progress. I've been restoring playfields for 13 years. This one is number #451. someone decided to add mylar after the game was messed up. Did a bunch of home made touchups, and put one big sheet of mylar over the entire field. Also cut large amounts of mylar right on the field, creating cut lines into the playfield. I'm in the process of cleaning the field, and getting it ready for touchups. I already removed all the text off the inserts, since they are all wrong. removed those random black circles that were magically hiding other lost art.

cleaning process is done. Insert text is cleaned off (because it was wrong). Now i'm starting the color matching process. have some sample yellows drying from last night.

Here is where its at currently. Been a massive amount of touchup work. 90% of it has been by hand. Needs a bunch more work yet

a lot of the imperfections you see in the field, is actually reflections off the clear. Hopefully this will be done soon.
