What purpose does the YEL/GR conductor serve on the score reel?

It completes the circuit from the score reel to the Add Replay unit solenoid so replays can be awarded for high scores.

and even if they look like they're solidly in place, with good solders, it's not always so. Finally tracked down no high score special to there on my Target Alpha. Twice!!
