Gottlieb, 1961I'm just starting to restore a 1961 Gottlieb Corral. It has an A-3594 transformer. I'm reading 120v AC where the power cord attaches to the transformer but I'm not reading any voltages from the transformer. There are five lugs across the top, High, Normal, Start (which I assume is common) and two more to the right of Start. They all read zero and I am using the center lug as common. What other tests can I run on the transformer to see if it needs replaced?
You're reading 120vac at the input of the transformer (the lugs on the transformer itself)? Don't have one of your test leads on the fuse or anywhere else to check the input voltage. It could be that a slam switch is open, or the hold relay is open. Then you won't have power at the transformer input lugs. Transformers very rarely go bad.
