So I just picked up a Gottlieb 2001. I got everything going on it except the coin door. I can only start a game by using the start relay. I press the start button on the door and nothing happens with credits previously added on the credit wheel. I can’t add credits from the door either. The jones plug has been cleaned. Am I missing something? Or is the door missing something? The chime unit on the machine was previously canabalized and I’m wondering if anything was taken off the door as well. Any help would be appreciated. I’m looking forward to getting this thing cleaned up. Thanks

Door looks ok - in your first pic, that red button just needs to close that switch to start a game with credits on the machine. Got the schematic?

Your coin lockout relay is neutered, but that's OK, was probably buzzing or burnt out anyway....

there are two sets of contacts on the credit wheel, one for max credits, if its open, cant add any more. one for zero credits, if its open (at non zero) cant start a game through the credit button.

    clean and gap (tighten) both

If the Replay button doesn't activate the Start relay (S), Inspect and diagnose this circuit with Alligator clip jumper wires

The two orange wires were originally attached to one lug of the lockout coil and should be twisted together to complete the path downstream from the coin door.

The black wire wrapped around the orange wires can remain as is. It was originally attached to the other lug of the lockout coil.

good catch, the two orange need to be twisted together...

Yeh, those two orange wires need to be connected to each other.

Congratulations on picking up a great game. Good luck with getting the little issues sorted out. This game is definitely worth the trouble.

Problem solved. The two orange wires did indeed have to be connected together. My other games still have the lockouts visually intact so I didn’t know where things went. Thanks everyone. Cleaning time.
