I’m sure I’m in the minority here but there may not be a single year of pinball production by one manufacturer that I’d rather have. I finally managed to collect all five 1988 Gottliebs at once.

TX Sector, Robo War, Excalibur, Diamond Lady and Bad Girls.

My Vitrigraph TX Sector is still in process but the new cabinet decals are done. All other are completely restored.

I’ve got a little slice of the class of ‘88 as well:

Eventually when I have more room, I’d love to add the rest as well.

I love these games. Simple, but loaded with lots of little nuance and strategy, and they have fantastic sound.

That is sexy. Wow!
Truly exceptional games, Robo War has such an incredibly soundtrack.

I've only played bad girls, but would love to play the others some day if I could find them.

With the exception of Bad Girls, the Gottlieb class of '88 is pretty rare to find for sale anywhere.

Such fun games. Love me some 80b games!

I met a girl for a date in Ashtabula once and she took me to a arcade in Pennsylvania that had a Excalibur, I was shocked to see it there .

Never played a Excalibur. Really really want to though. I have a Countdown and everyone that I show that game to loves it, so I would imagine it's just as fun (or more?)

I love these Gottlieb 80B Pins. They have character.

I used to scoff at these games way way back in the day when I started collecting. Now I think they're some of the finest examples of pinball of the era, and I'd love to have them all in my collection. I should've picked them up when they were cheap-as-free!

Side note: I've noticed a lot of the shots in Elwin's more recent games move the ball across the playfield similarly to how these 80B games do. Example: The right "pond attack" spinner on jaws sends the ball on a tight loop that feeds the right upper flipper through the lane, and it feels VERY similar to how the left spinner shot on Diamond Lady sends the ball through a tight loop around that feeds the lower left flipper.

Yep. I don’t think that’s a coincidence at all.
