Bally SS chimes sound much much sweeter than their Bally EM counterparts.
Compare a rebuilt Captain fantastic chime box with a likewise rebuilt Mata Hari. Difference is night and day. =)

The assemblies are the same except for the metal chime material. Take out one from each style Bally EM and Bally SS and hold in your hand.
The EM chime metal bars are made of a lighter less substantial metal the the SS version.
